BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Board of Directors oversees and supervises the general affairs of the Arts Center Friends. The Board is composed of no more than twelve members, each of whom serves a three-year term of office and a maximum of two consecutive terms. Board members are appointed by the Town.
The Board of Directors is responsible for all major fundraising. Individual members direct their energy and expertise toward promoting and developing the aesthetic and educational potential of the Arts Center and generating public and private interest in and support for its programs.

Robert J. Barker has a long history of public service that includes having served as mayor and town commissioner in Fuquay-Varina. He is a current member and past President of the Fuquay-Varina Chamber of Commerce, a founding member and past Chairman of the Fuquay-Varina Education Foundation, current member and past President of the Fuquay-Varina Rotary Club, and a founding member of both the Fuquay-Varina Industrial Managers Association and the Fuquay-Varina Main Street Revitalization Association. He is past Chairman of the Campbell University Board of Trustees and of the Campbell John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center Campaign Committee. Bob currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Bob Barker Company, America’s leading detention supplier. He graduated from Campbell University with a BS in History and attended law school at UNC, Chapel Hill.
Don Curry is a Fuquay-Varina resident and downtown property and business owner. Don is a graduate of NC State with a degree in civil engineering. He is active in the community, having served on numerous professional and local boards including the American Society of Civil Engineers, Fuquay-Varina Downtown Revitalization Association, Fuquay-Varina Community Transportation Plan Steering Committee, and the Fuquay-Varina Land Development Ordinance Advisory Committee. He also currently serves as a lay elder at Redeemer Community Church.
Jennifer Holt has resided in downtown Fuquay-Varina since May 2016. She holds a PhD in Philosophy from Vanderbilt University, where she founded and served as Director of the Writing Studio and taught courses on aesthetics, artistic modernism, and critical theory. While there, she helped foster Creative Campus Initiatives through the Curb Center for Art, Enterprise, and Public Policy and was an enthusiastic supporter of the Nashville arts scene. Currently, Jennifer owns a small business that helps scholars write competitive funding applications. She also moonlights as a ghostwriter and book editor.
Patricia M. Barker, currently Executive Vice-President of Bob Barker Company, has been a leader in that company’s management for the past 41 years. Pat holds a Masters in Chemistry from Duke University and an MBA from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business. Before working for the Barker Company, she worked with Almay Cosmetics as Product Development Chemist, Senior Chemist, and Group Leader. Pat has been active in leadership roles in Fuquay-Varina community organizations, including having served as treasurer of the Fuquay-Varina Woman's Club. She was a founding member of Woodhaven Baptist Church and has held numerous roles there, including Co-Chair of Extended Session, Chair of the Nominating Committee, and member of Deacons, Governance, Personnel, and Pastor Search Committees.
Elizabeth Edwards has been a resident of Fuquay-Varina since May of 2010. She is an active member of the Fuquay-Varina Junior Woman’s Club, serves as its Third Vice President of Ways and Means and its Publics Relations Chair, and is also a graduate of the Chamber of Commerce 2017-18 Leadership Fuquay-Varina Program. Currently, Elizabeth works as the Director of Alumni Communications in the Office of Alumni Engagement at Campbell University. Prior to her role at Campbell, she worked as the Online Communications Editor at the North Carolina Biotechnology Center in Research Triangle Park. She holds a BA in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from William Peace University.
Amy Rogers is Broker-In-Charge of Coldwell Banker Howard Perry & Walston's Fuquay-Varina location. As a local business woman, she is invested in positive growth in the community. She holds a BA in Fine Art from Meredith College with a painting and sculpture studio concentration. Prior to a career in Real Estate, Amy worked for Visual Art Exchange and Raleigh Contemporary Gallery, now the Mahler Gallery, helping create corporate and private collections in the Triangle. She has also served on the Board for the North Carolina Museum of Art Contemporaries. She acts as a juror for a variety of art exhibitions; most recently she was a judge of the Fuquay-Varina En Plein Air showcase.
Robin Wellings Loftus
Robin Wellings Loftus has been a Fuquay-Varina resident since June 2008. In 2009, Robin joined Edward Jones as a financial advisor, and her office is in downtown Varina. She holds an MBA from University of Phoenix, a BS in Economics and Political Science from Western Michigan University, and an AAMS® designation from The College of Financial Planning. Robin’s activities in the Fuquay-Varina community include serving on the Chamber of Commerce Board from 2012-2017 and, for the last four years, chairing the committee to develop the Fuquay-Varina Leadership Program. She’s been an engaged member of the local Rotary Clubs since 2011, and at Edward Jones, she serves on committees that partner with the Alzheimer Association. Robin is active in her church and sings in its choir.
